Interactive voice response systems
An Interactive Voice Response system (IVR) is a computer which gathers information that callers type on their phone keypad or speak in response to voice prompts. A very simple example would be “Press 1 for sales, press 2 for support”, although our technology can provide very sophisticated call flows incorporating features including:
  • Interaction with ODBC databases (reading, writing and amending records)
  • Voice recognition
  • Text-to-speech synthesis
  • Decisions based on time of day, caller’s location, called number, etc.
  • SMS style alphanumeric input from the phone’s keypad
  • Recording of the caller’s voice utterances
  • Delivery of the caller’s responses to your email box
  • Predictive dialling-out
  • Acceptance and initiation of fax calls
  • Fax polling (caller dials the number and receives faxed information)

The latest systems use natural language speech recognition to interpret the questions that the person wants answered.

IVR systems are found operating telephone banking services, voicemail systems are similar to IVR systems but offer limited functionality. IVR systems can be used to create services from telephone banking, order placement, caller identification and airline ticket booking.
